What a great day! All the hard work and preparation really paid off – and the day just flew by. I have a few surprising reflections on the whole experience.

First, I was simply blown away by the passion, the humility, and in so many cases, the vulnerability I saw from all the speakers, dancers, and musicians. I learned so much from each of the talks and, importantly, about each of the speakers. Listening to each of them was such a poignant reminder of how much more there is to every single person, despite what we think we know. It is so easy to make a first impression and let yourself run with that. But if we take a few extra minutes to ask a few questions and get to know each other, we will more than likely find a common thread that links us together.

Next, I saw change. I watched as people listened and learned and actually changed their viewpoints and long-held perspectives on things. That was truly amazing.

Finally, on a personal note, I was so surprised and delighted to learn that my message resonated beyond the intended audience. The TEDx stage is a powerful platform – politically and personally. I am filled with gratitude and respect for all of the organizers, the speakers, and the audience – all of whom showed up engaged passionately with their full hearts and minds.
Let’s do it again next year!
