I’ve wanted to do a TED talk since I knew what TED was. Ironically, I had mentioned it to my best friend at the beginning of this year. Little did I know that I would have the opportunity to apply for TEDx MSUDenver and be accepted.
TED has the power to disseminate amazing thought-provoking ideas across the world. I know that if I ever feel stagnant, I can search for a TED talk for inspiration and motivation and won’t be disappointed. I want to share my idea with others so that they can feel the same.
Of course, the application asked about the framework of my idea, but I felt that it was less about what and more about why. I thought this was relevant because the takeaways from TED talks can be very individualized. The talks are a platform to share ideas in a way that engages the audience in a deeper way, and I think that’s what the application process is about.
I was very emotional which was completely unexpected. After a bit of reflection, I knew I was ready and able to take on TED with enthusiasm. After all, I was the one who applied so I must have known I was ready. Right?
I am over the moon! I have had amazing support and encouragement from friends and family, and I can’t wait to see what the final product will be.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t, but right now I would say I’m just as excited as I am nervous.
